We would like you to be aware that yesterday while walking home from Silverheights after school, a stranger approached a student and asked if she wanted a ride home. The student did the right thing and declined and made her way home safely. This occurred on Dawn Crescent. Waterloo Regional Police were contacted and have been patrolling the area. The man is described as being in his mid 30s, with a darker complexion and wearing an earring. He was wearing a red shirt and was driving a blue Jeep with a sunroof and a spare tire mounted on the back of the vehicle.
Thankfully this type of situation is very rare in our Silverheights community. This type of occurrence reminds us to be vigilant about safety in our community. We encourage you to have a conversation with your child(ren) about safety in our community and how to safely respond in situations like this one. With summer quickly approaching, it’s a good time for this type of conversation.
Thank you for your continued support in keeping the Silverheights community a safe place to live and work for all of us, especially your children.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Moen Mr. Sherlock
