Parents/Guardians,

We wanted to welcome all of our HAWK families back to school for this year! We are excited to get started and see you!

We have been working hard to prepare our school so we are ready for your children. Our priority is to provide a safe learning environment that is guided by our Ministry of Education and our Public Health unit. We want to make learning the priority and we want to make this learning FUN.

Below are some key points we want families to be aware of for the first week. This is an evolving process so we appreciate your patience and are always available to answer your questions. We will continue to update you as September progresses.

  • This weekend, families can check School Day to find out who their teacher is and what room they are in.
  • This weekend – Teachers will be communicating to their classes where they line up on the school yard, at the beginning and end of the day, using School Day
  • The school has been set up to maximize 2m social distancing and regular hand washing – social distancing and proper hand sanitizing is critical to student and staff safety
  • Every student, staff and guest member must be wearing a mask inside the school – we suggest you send a spare and wash them regularly
  • We are asking guardians to support us in our shared efforts – please wear a mask if you are on school property
  • Kindergarten parents must drop their children off directly to the educator in the morning – hand over hand
  • Primary parents can drop their children off directly to their line for September – after September, we are asking that all primary students be dropped off at the fence on the far right of the school (beside the Conestoga College Child Youth Development Centre) – there is lots of adult supervision
  • Junior and intermediate students should enter the school on the left sidewalk beside the parking lot
  • Backpacks are allowed this year, but students are not to bring anything (other than their lunch) from home unless the teacher has asked for it.
  • Intermediate students will be using lockers if they want – they will be taught safe protocol when accessing their lockers – they must bring in their own lock and they must share their combination with their homeroom teacher.
  • Classes are cohorted to support Covid tracking
  • All students/staff must complete the Covid screening tool using the Covid Screening Tool
  • The school will be tracking the students who have/have not completed the Covid Screening Tool
  • Families are asked to participate in our Boomerang Lunch initiative – this helps us keep the school clean and sanitized – more information coming soon
  • At no time should parents be driving into our parking lot – this is a huge safety issue
  • Dogs are not allowed on school property
  • Parents are not allowed in the school – the only exception is Extended Day – parents are not to drop off lunch, supplies or clothes unless receiving a phone call from the school
  • Families are not to come to school early in the morning – please do your best to arrive a couple minutes before the bell at 8:45
  • Please continue to check our School Website

Take Care

Mr. Stere and Ms. Miranda
