Dear Silverheights PS families,

I want to make you aware of a situation that affected our school today. Just before the end of the school day, I directed our school into a hold and secure as the result of a suspicious individual who was in the vicinity of our school, and refused to leave the area. This individual had a dog that was large and aggressive.

As part of our hold and secure protocol, students and staff remained inside and all exterior doors were locked so no one could enter or exit the building. Staff and students were safe inside the school or in their classroom portable at all times. Our school remained in hold and secure for approximately 15 minutes until we were assured by WRPS that it was safe to return to our regular school routines.

We will always take whatever precaution is necessary to ensure the safety of our students and staff. We want to thank our partners at WRPS for helping to keep our schools safe places to learn. As always, please call me at the school at 519-658-9023 if you have questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Jason Stere

Principal
