October 9th, 2015
We will be celebrating Hallowe’en at Silverheights School on Friday, Oct. 30th this year. Students may wear costumes or black and orange clothing. If students wear costumes we ask that they wear comfortable clothes underneath to be able to easily change if their costumes become uncomfortable.
We ask that children do not wear masks or bring costume props to school. Masks can limit vision, so make-up is better and props can be damaged or lost at school. Of course, costumes need to be appropriate for school and adhere to our dress code. No items simulating weaponry are allowed at school. We also ask that costumes are not so scary that they frighten our JK and SK students.
Hallowe’en is often a time when parents want to send in special treats. Please check with your child’s teacher before you send in treats. We have a large number of students with food allergies and sensitivities and many parents who do not want their children eating snack foods. A good alternative to sugary treats is a pencil, eraser, temporary tattoo or sticker.
Wishing everyone a Happy Hallowe’en!
