Dear Silverheights Families,

We are excited to welcome you and your children back to Silverheights Public School for another wonderful school year. As we prepare for the first day of school, we want to provide you with some important information and reminders to ensure a smooth start to the academic year.

 

**Connecting with the School:**

– Should you need to contact the school, our phone number is (519) 658-9023. We are here to assist you during school hours.

– Office hours are from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

– We also use School Day for important messages, filling out forms, and purchasing items for your child. Please ensure you have signed up. If support is needed, please contact the office. 

 

**First Day Reminders:**

1. **Parking:** Please remember that there is no parking on the street directly in front of the school. We kindly ask that you park on Poplar Street or Dawn Avenue to ensure the safety of our students and minimize traffic congestion.

2. **Teacher and Class Assignments:** To find out your child’s class assignment, please log into School Day. If you are unable to log in to School Day, there will be staff members with class lists and vests who will be able to share your child’s class assignment on the first day of school. They will be available to assist after 8:30 at the front of the school and the back of the school.

3. **Line-Up Locations:** Attached to this message, you will find a document detailing the line-up locations for your child’s teacher. This will help streamline the drop-off process.

4. **Bell Times:** The bell times for Silverheights Public School are as follows:

– 8:30 – Supervision begins

– 8:45 – School Day begins

– 10:45 to 11:25 – First Nutrition Break

– 1:25 to 2:05 – Second Nutrition Break

– 3:05 – Dismissal

– 3:15 – Supervision ends

Please ensure your child arrives at school on time.

5. **Kindergarten Drop-off and Pick-up:** For our kindergarten students, drop-off and pick-up will take place at the Kindergarten Outdoor Area or the Front of the School. Refer to the attached document to see the specific location for your child. Please do not leave your child until the teacher arrives. Please follow the procedures for a safe and organized arrival and dismissal.

6. **Busing:** Students who take the bus will be directed to their designated bus areas. Our staff will ensure that students get safely to their buses at the end of the day. Kindergarten students will be escorted by an adult from the classroom to the bus.

7. **YDP and Extended Day Programs:** If your child participates in our YDP or Extended Day program, our staff members will guide them to the appropriate location. Rest assured, your child’s safety and well-being are our top priorities.

 

**Important Notes:**

– There is no access to any parking lot before or after school. Please adhere to this policy for everyone’s safety.

– The playground is not accessible before or after school hours. We kindly ask that students do not play on the playground during these times.

**Need Assistance?**

If you require any assistance or have questions on the first day, please look for staff members wearing vests. They will be available to provide guidance and support.
